Petite Vogue

Thierry B. brings characteristic charm and elegance to the art of collage.

Early in his career, Thierry began creating collages before he could afford original materials. It was a fitting start for the Frenchman, given that the word collage comes from the French verb ‘coller,’ which means to stick.

The art of collage dates back hundreds of years, but it was in the early 20th century that Cubists, including Picasso, used collage to create the sensation of three dimensions on paper.

Today, Thierry B. continues to explore collage as an avenue to seeing fresh dimensions. In his collages, he reuses existing materials to create new patterns and depth. These inventive combinations transform materials and allow us to see the world in new ways.

Thierry B

Thierry B

Thierry B is an internationally acclaimed Australian abstract expressionist artist known for his fabulous French charm. But when he arrived from France in 1990, he could not have dreamt of what lay ahead.

Thierry B was hand-picked from a Michelin star restaurant to be maître d’ at the iconic Mietta’s, then the heart of Melbourne’s fashionable arts and dining scene.

Thierry’s warm spirit made every diner feel like a movie star.

But while he generously served others, he struggled to adapt. He was homesick for the romance and beauty of his previous life.

How it was made

We have chosen to partner with Digital Art Directory to bring you this exclusive collection of limited edition fine art reproductions. They are the printer for Australia’s renowned artists like Howard Arkley, Russell Drysdale, John Olsen, Lin Onus, Jeffrey Smart, Tim Storrier, Brett Whiteley and Thierry B.

Our archival fine art reproductions are captured from the original artwork, colour-matched and proofed with the artist. They are printed using Japanese pigment inks on 100% cotton fibre mould made on 300gsm watercolour paper, which is pH neutral, acid and lignin free. This bright white paper contains calcium carbonate as a buffer for atmospheric acids.

Wilhelm Imaging Research has conducted print permanence testing, at 75°F and 60% pH, measured at 450 lux, in “standard” indoor display for 12 hours per day, on this paper stock. They have confirmed the minimum print life to be at least 120-130 years before any noticeable fading occurs, under these conditions.

Each one is embossed with Thierry B’s personal logo, Digital Art Directory’s embossment and our guarantee of quality and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

A wall is not a wall unless it has a Thierry B on it.
